S/4191 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Solitaire Board
An extremely good quality and unusual mahogany solitaire board, which unlike the majority that are circular, is square and instead of housing a canal encircling the board, it has a rounded brass gallery to retain the 33 old glass marbles. The circular playing holes have chamfered edges and are through to the back. The gallery is held in place by sunken hand cut brass screws and nuts, and it also retains its original printed label which reads, 'Apply for further orders to the Rev Charles N Wawn, North Ferrity, Brough, East Yorkshire, Price 10s (i.e. 50 p). The whole has an excellent colour, condition and patination.
