S/6092 Antique Treen Early 18th Century Fruitwood Snuff Mortar

A lovely small early 18th century fruitwood snuff mortar of rounded form, having a concave stem and stepped circular vertical foot. A somewhat similar example is illustrated on page 115, plate 8/9 in 'Treen for the Table' by Jonathan Levi. It has a most excellent colour and patination, with a historic burned chip to the top edge.
